Description
DIL’s primary objectives are to:
1) Advance a portfolio high-impact, sustainable development solutions that integrate technological advances with social science innovation;
2) Sustain a pipeline of new, promising development solutions at each stage in the innovation cycle—from discovery, to design and piloting, to rigorous evaluation and translation;
3) Build and disseminate a toolkit for real-time evaluation of development interventions in the field, including a suite of low-cost wireless measurement instruments, a cloud-based data visualization platform, and a set of novel analytic techniques; and
4) Cultivate an ecosystem for development innovation, by supporting scientific conferences, USAID-university exchanges, student competitions, and postdoctoral and graduate-level training in the nascent field of Development Engineering.
