Description
JUNCO's has developed a smartphone‐connected blood test that can diagnose HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. They plan to launch a blood test in the developing‐world market that replaces traditional complex clinical diagnostic instruments ($100,000 robot and $40 per test) with a simple two‐part system: a reusable smartphone ""dongle"" that runs disposable tests. The dongle will run on a software which can be used by healthcare providers and patients, and which will connect to electronic health records. Objectives: With support from DIV, Junco Labs will: 1) establish a business team for manufacturing and distribution in Rwanda and subsequent scale‐up in other countries, and 2) for collect evidence for the health impact and cost‐effectiveness of next‐generation diagnostic tests, including all the clinical data needed to submit a package to obtain regulatory approval for the World Health Organization
