Survive & Thrive

Launched by Secretary Clinton at the June 2012 Child Survival Call to Action, Survive and Thrive is a global public-private partnership that has harnessed the expertise of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Nurse Midwives, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Johnson and Johnson, Laerdal Global Health, Save the Children, Jhpiego, National Institute of Child and Human Development, and the United States Agency for International Development. The objectives of the public-private partnership are to: (a) strengthen clinical competencies and improve quality of maternal, newborn and child health services in health facilities, (b) strengthen professional associations, and (c) nurture the next generation of public health leaders among young clinicians. Key activities are simulation-based training and quality improvement, integrated maternal and newborn focus working through a multi-disciplinary team approach (i.e. pediatric, midwifery, and obstetric associations), and training and mentoring regional and national health professional associations.
