Description
"Eco-fuel Africa empowers local communities in Uganda to use tailor-made technology to convert locally sourced farm and municipal waste into clean cooking fuel (green charcoal) and organic fertilizers (biochar). Using DIV Stage One funding, Eco-Fuel enabled 2,500 farmers to use kilns, 460 women retailers improved sales by offering green charcoal, and over 10,000 households now use clean cooking fuel on a daily basis in Uganda. DIV Stage 2 support will expand operations by (1) expanding own capacity and servicing more urban markets with high demand and (2) establishing a network of micro-franchisees where EFA will provide in-kind equipment and support services to access smaller, rural markets by franchising production and sales."
